Monty has previously honored Nell’s memory on Instagram. Recently, he shared a nostalgic post marking ten years since Nell joined his life, saying, “I still miss her very much.” Nell passed away peacefully in October 2023 after a battle with cancer, having been lovingly cared for in Monty’s Longmeadow garden where she was laid to rest beside another beloved dog, Nigel.

In a heartfelt interview on BBC Radio 5 Live, Monty revealed the deeply personal moments following Nell’s passing, describing how he wrapped her in one of his jackets along with her favorite biscuits for burial. He recalled the quiet void left behind: “There’s now a space where her bed was,” he said, his voice thick with emotion. “She used to come when I was eating and press her head against my knee. She had a special bark whenever she was excited about food.”

Monty Don’s tribute has offered comfort to many who have experienced the loss of a faithful pet, reminding us all of the profound love and lasting memories our animal companions leave behind.
