Mike Tindall Reveals One Rule He and Zara Never Break at Home

Mike Tindall has opened up about a key lifestyle change he and his wife Zara have made in recent years to support their wellbeing. The former England rugby player shared that the couple now follow a strict rule: they never drink alcohol when they are simply at home. Instead, they reserve drinking for social occasions or when entertaining guests.

In an interview with The Times, Mike, 47, explained that this shift was motivated by their desire to stay in top physical shape. “If me and Zara are at home, we never drink. We only drink when we are with people and entertaining,” he said. Reflecting on his need to keep up with his children physically, he added, “I’ve got to try and keep my kids from beating me in a sprint race for as long as possible. I wasn’t the quickest even when I did play, so it might be harder than I think. Nobody finishes rugby without a dodgy neck or back.”

Mike’s co-host on the podcast The Good, the Bad and the Rugby, James Haskell, also shared insights on the toll rugby has taken on his body, revealing how he wakes up feeling the effects of past injuries. Despite this, James emphasized the importance of maintaining a youthful mindset and not resigning to age-related limitations.

Health has been an ongoing concern for Mike. Earlier this year, Zara revealed she had secretly filmed him sleeping to highlight his breathing difficulties caused by multiple nose fractures sustained during his rugby career. This prompted Mike to seek medical treatment, including surgery to improve his sleep apnea and dental work to correct his teeth alignment.

Now, Mike reports significant improvement: “It is fixed now, better than what it was.” His candidness about these lifestyle adjustments underscores a commitment to long-term health for the sake of himself and his family.
