Michael Barrymore, the charismatic former presenter of BBC and ITV shows, has quickly made Devon his new home after moving to the South West earlier this month. Embracing the coastal lifestyle, Barrymore has been actively exploring his surroundings—frequenting beaches, cafes, independent shops, and eateries across the region.
Despite a brief trip back to London for hernia surgery last week, Barrymore has returned to Devon and is clearly on the mend. Recently, he embarked on one of his signature “munchie runs,” visiting Sweet Dylemma, a popular Torquay sweet shop known for its unique international confectionery.
Sharing the experience with nearly four million followers on TikTok, Barrymore showcased an impressive haul of treats. Outside the shop, he exclaimed, “Gang—I got some seriously cool munchies today,” highlighting the shop’s abundance of American sweets. Inside, he picked out an array of goodies including Dr Pepper and Peeps marshmallows, Japanese Skittles, Hershey’s Mandarin Waffle, Liquorice Allsorts Nougat bars, Butterfinger French Toast-flavored candy, Double Dares Jelly Beans, and a Fruit Salad Rope.

He also sampled intriguing beverages such as a large can of Arizona Tropical ChillZicle and a Spicy Mucho Mango Hot Honey drink. Intrigued by the mystery bags combining Chinese and Japanese sweets, Barrymore couldn’t resist purchasing one for £5.
Summing up his visit, Barrymore gave a simple but glowing verdict: “Very reasonable.” He added, “This place is really cool. The stock is so good, I’ll be back. It came to about 44 quid, which is very reasonable because look what was in my Mystery Bag.”
Sweet Dylemma, established in 2022, began as an online pick-and-mix venture operating from a garage. Within two years, it expanded to four permanent locations across Dartmouth, Newton Abbot, Torquay, and Exmouth. The shop prides itself on offering an extensive range of sweets that include nostalgic favorites, trending TikTok treats, and exotic imports—all delivered with excellent customer service and a personal touch.
Social media followers enthusiastically responded to Barrymore’s sweet shop adventure. One joked, “Michael, you’ll have to take me shopping, we could have a sugar rush together.” Another praised the Mystery Bag deal, while locals admitted discovering the shop through Barrymore’s post. Fans also expressed excitement at Barrymore’s visit to Torquay, urging him to return soon for more “munchie runs.”
