The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow across Gloucestershire, forecasting wintry conditions from Wednesday afternoon through to Thursday morning.
Starting at 4pm on Wednesday, February 18, and lasting until 6am on Thursday, February 19, snow is expected to affect parts of central England, particularly impacting areas including Stroud, Cirencester, Northleach, Winchcombe, and Moreton-in-Marsh. Accumulations of 2 to 5cm are likely on higher ground.
Residents and motorists should be prepared for possible travel delays on local roads, with the Met Office highlighting a slight risk that some rural communities might become isolated. Additionally, power outages cannot be ruled out due to the anticipated weather conditions.

The snowfall is expected to be accompanied by north-easterly winds and wet weather, which could make driving hazardous. The Met Office advises all travelers to plan their routes carefully, check for any delays or road closures before setting out, and allow extra time for journeys.
In preparation for the conditions, motorists are encouraged to equip their vehicles with essential supplies such as warm clothing, food, water, a blanket, a torch, an ice scraper or de-icer, a warning triangle, a high visibility vest, and an in-car phone charger. Taking these precautions can help ensure safety during potentially challenging travel conditions.
A Met Office spokesperson emphasized: “Snowy, wintry weather can cause delays and make driving dangerous – to keep yourself and others safe, plan your journey carefully and prepare your vehicle accordingly.”
