Met Office Issues Extensive 9-Hour Thunderstorm Warning for Gloucestershire

The Met Office has announced a significant yellow thunderstorm warning for Gloucestershire on Saturday, June 6, lasting from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Residents can anticipate frequent lightning, hail, and strong gusty winds throughout the nine-hour period.

Heavy downpours are expected, with rainfall potentially reaching 10-15mm in less than an hour. Some areas might experience between 30-40mm of rain due to successive showers and thunderstorms, which could disrupt local transport and infrastructure.

Rainfall is predicted to begin early Saturday around 2 a.m., easing by 6 a.m., followed by another wave of heavy showers from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Light rain may persist until 7 p.m. before conditions improve. Wind gusts could reach up to 29 mph during the early evening, while temperatures will be cooler than recent days, topping out near 17°C.
