Meghan Markle Stays Home as Prince Harry Arrives Solo in UK After Palace Withdraws Accommodation Offer

Prince Harry has arrived in the UK without Meghan Markle and their children, Archie and Lilibet, following the withdrawal of his accommodation offer at Buckingham Palace. The Duke’s trip has been marked by uncertainty, starting with his discreet airport arrival and continuing with questions about his current residence.

Originally, Harry intended for Meghan and the children to join him, hoping to arrange temporary security for his family to visit London. He was eager for his children to spend time with their grandfather, King Charles, though those plans have been disrupted.

King Charles has seen Archie only a handful of times during Harry and Meghan’s limited UK visits and has met Lilibet just once in the summer of 2022. Due to concerns over security and an unsuccessful request for taxpayer-funded protection denied by the Home Office, Harry decided it would be unsafe for his family to travel to London without adequate security.

The Duke is still awaiting a security review by the Risk Management Board, which oversees arrangements for royal figures. However, this assessment has yet to take place, adding to the uncertainty of the family’s movements.

While Meghan and the children remain in the United States and will not join Harry in London, there is speculation they might reunite later in the week for the Invictus Games events in Birmingham. Still, it seems unlikely that King Charles will have the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren during this visit.

There have been informal suggestions of a possible family meeting at one of the King’s country estates, such as Highgrove or Sandringham, but no official request has been made.

In a further development, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Harry will not be staying there during his visit, despite earlier reports indicating an invitation from the King. The Palace noted that hosting royals requires significant preparation, including staffing and security, and Harry’s late acceptance of the invitation led to its withdrawal.

Now, Harry is expected to stay at undisclosed private accommodations while fulfilling several royal duties. His itinerary includes meetings with the Invictus Games Foundation at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, a visit to Birmingham Children’s Hospital commemorating the 20th anniversary of WellChild Nurse, and attending Scotty’s Summer Festival in Warwickshire, where he supports the charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers, which aids bereaved military children.

Although Meghan and the children are not currently in the UK, the family is anticipated to have an audience with King Charles at some point during their visit. Harry last saw his father in September 2025, while the King has not been able to spend time with his grandchildren or daughter-in-law since 2022.
