Meghan Markle in Talks for Role in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix Series

The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly in preliminary discussions to make her acting comeback with a role in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen.

This speculation around Meghan Markle’s potential return to acting surfaced shortly after it was announced that she and Prince Harry are planning to move back to the UK with their children later this month. The couple intends to reside in a non-royal home outside London, having already enrolled their son Archie and daughter Lilibet in British schools, according to information revealed this Wednesday.

Before marrying Prince Harry, the 45-year-old Meghan gained fame portraying Rachel Zane in the American legal drama Suits and appeared in films including Horrible Bosses, A Lot Like Love and Random Encounters.

Entertainment industry publication Deadline has reported that Meghan is in early talks about her first substantial acting role since her marriage. It is believed she could join award-winning director Guy Ritchie in a possible role for The Gentlemen, a Netflix series starring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario.

The Gentlemen centres on Duke Eddie Horniman, who unexpectedly inherits his late father’s country estate, which serves as the base for an underground cannabis enterprise. The show is a spin-off from Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name, which follows an American drug lord seeking to sell his cannabis empire in England.

The action-comedy series, which premiered in 2024, is anticipated to release its second season later this year. Meghan is rumoured to be in talks for a part in a prospective third season, although Netflix has not yet officially renewed the series, as reported by Deadline.

Notably, the first series was primarily filmed at Badminton House in South Gloucestershire, about 10 miles from the King’s Highgrove residence and near the Cotswolds, an area popular with celebrities.

Meghan recently made a brief return to acting after nearly a decade, appearing as herself in the forthcoming comedy Close Personal Friends, featuring Lily Collins and Brie Larson.

Commenting on Meghan’s potential acting return, a leading talent manager told the Press Association that filmmakers and producers would “absolutely want to meet” her, expressing confidence there would be considerable interest in casting her.

Professor Jonathan Shalit, chairman of InterTalent Rights Group, added: “If Meghan decided tomorrow that she seriously wanted to act again, directors and producers would absolutely want to meet her and audition her.

“Would she automatically be handed every role she wanted? Of course not. Nobody is. But would doors open? Absolutely.”
