McMurtry Automotive Unveils New Factory as Spéirling Production Begins

McMurtry Automotive, a trailblazer in the hypercar industry, is embarking on a new chapter with the imminent production of its groundbreaking electric track car, the McMurtry Spéirling PURE. This marks a major milestone in the company’s journey, celebrating a decade of engineering excellence.

Founded by the late Sir David McMurtry, a visionary inventor and billionaire, McMurtry Automotive has made a name for itself by pushing the boundaries of performance and design. The Spéirling PURE, a single-seater electric fan car, has already garnered international acclaim, especially for its record-breaking performance at the Goodwood Hill Climb, where it smashed records and became the first car to drive upside down.

With over 5000 kilometers of test mileage on its prototypes, McMurtry Automotive is ready to take the next step: mass production. The company has just unveiled a state-of-the-art 2700m² production facility in Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, where the Spéirling PURE will be built. This new factory will serve as a base for future growth, ensuring that McMurtry can meet growing demand while expanding its model range in the years to come.

In addition to the new factory, McMurtry Automotive is launching a new innovation division, McMurtry Technology. Located at the historic Swinhay House estate, this new arm will focus on commercialising the technology, patents, and expertise developed through the Spéirling programme. McMurtry Technology will offer a variety of engineering services, specialising in Downforce on Demand™, Performance Battery Technology, Electric Powertrains, and more. The division has already secured several high-profile clients, generating seven-figure revenues.

Richard and Ben McMurtry, the sons of Sir David McMurtry, are deeply committed to continuing their father’s legacy. As joint owners of the company, they bring their own expertise and passion to the brand, ensuring that the innovative spirit of McMurtry Automotive remains alive. Richard McMurtry commented, “Our father’s philosophy was to seek solutions beyond the known limits, to engineer creatively and freely. That remains our guiding principle today.”

This strategic growth represents an exciting new phase for McMurtry Automotive as it positions itself to lead in both the hypercar and technology sectors. The company’s commitment to British engineering and cutting-edge technology is already turning heads in the automotive world.

The Spéirling PURE will retail at £995,000, plus taxes, shipping, and options. The first customer vehicles are set to be delivered in the summer of 2026, with the car expected to appear at race tracks around the globe. Designed for the most discerning car enthusiasts, the Spéirling PURE promises unmatched performance, speed, and handling, combining innovation and engineering excellence into one astonishing machine.

As McMurtry Automotive celebrates its tenth anniversary, the company’s focus remains clear: to push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of hypercars and to continue setting new standards for performance and design. With the launch of McMurtry Technology and the production of the Spéirling PURE, the company is primed for an exciting future.
