McLaren Nears Completion of Major Logistics Hub at Former Honda Site Off A419 Near M4

Construction is rapidly advancing at Panattoni Park Swindon, a significant 545,000 sq ft logistics and industrial facility located off the A419 near the M4. McLaren Construction (Midlands & North) is leading the build on behalf of developer Panattoni, with the project now entering its final stages after a swift 39-week schedule.

Key milestones have been achieved as the towering steel frame stands complete, internal roofing nears completion, and windows are being installed. Cladding work is progressing steadily, complementing the ongoing roof lining installations. On the ground, external concrete slabs are laid, kerbs are being formed, and essential power and water services are being set up.

The multi-storey car park deck has been poured, and internal fit-outs—including first-fix mechanical and electrical systems—are actively underway. Meanwhile, inside the office section, glazing is finished, and cladding is being added to a distinctive link bridge connecting the offices to the car park.

This development will feature two floors of office space designed to meet high environmental standards, targeting BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ certifications and EPC A+/A ratings, while aiming for net zero upfront carbon emissions.

The transformation of this site carries historic significance. Previously brownfield land, it served as an airfield during World War II before becoming part of Honda’s manufacturing operations later in the 20th century. Following Honda’s closure in 2021, Panattoni’s regeneration project breathes new life into the area.

Luke Arnold, regional director at McLaren Midlands & North, stated, “We’re proud to deliver this project efficiently and to the highest standards. Panattoni Park Swindon is a flagship development for our company and the region. Our team remains focused on maintaining momentum to complete the project early in 2026.”

Upon completion, Panattoni Park Swindon will offer state-of-the-art logistics space in a location boasting excellent transport links and a rich industrial heritage.
