Man Waving Weapon Tries to Bite and Headbutt Police in Cheltenham

A man in Cheltenham was arrested after he was seen waving a weapon and attempting to assault police officers. The incident occurred around 4:20 pm on Sunday, February 8, in the Monks Croft area.

Gloucestershire Constabulary responded swiftly with an armed unit following reports of a man displaying a weapon. Upon arrival, the man was detained without further incident. A subsequent search of a nearby property uncovered an air weapon and a small number of cannabis plants.

The suspect, a local Cheltenham resident, was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing a firearm in a public place and producing a class B drug. Additionally, he faced charges of assaulting emergency workers after attempting to bite and headbutt two police officers. Fortunately, the officers were unharmed.
