A local visitor to The Farmer’s Dog, the pub owned by Jeremy Clarkson and featured on the popular Amazon Prime show Clarkson’s Farm, recently shared their experience—and it may come as a surprise to fans.
Clarkson, known for his roles on Top Gear and The Grand Tour, now stars in this beloved farming series, currently in its acclaimed fourth season. His pub, The Farmer’s Dog, has become a hotspot for visitors wanting to experience the place firsthand.
Posting on the r/ClarksonsFarm Reddit page, the local recounted their visit: “Went to the pub today. Food was good, worth the money in my opinion. Spent a fortune in the butchers and shop. Alan the builder was there, the farmer’s puppy was closed—looks like they’re building a new one or a second one. Bumped into Gerald in the car park and said hello! We’re only 20 mins down the road, so will definitely go again.”

Price was a particular point of interest. When someone enquired how much a meal cost, the original poster noted that a steak pie with mash and vegetables cost £24. Though it may sound steep, the poster assured readers that such prices are typical for the region.
They added: “Ham hock starter, £11 I think. Steak pie, with mash and vegetables, £24. Not wildly expensive for the area.” The poster joked, “I’m sure I’ve paid more for a s*** burger in Manchester.”
Other locals chimed in, agreeing that the prices are reasonable. One commented, “I mean that’s not awful to be honest. My local (village pub in the West Country) charges not much less than that for pie and it’s not as big as the Farmer’s Dog one.”
Beyond pricing, the visitor praised the setting and service. When asked about the atmosphere, especially the outdoor dining area, they replied, “The view is every bit as nice as in the show. It’s lovely. Service was excellent.”
Meanwhile, Clarkson has recently shared that farming at Diddly Squat Farm is increasingly challenging, with this year expected to be tougher than ever. On X, he commented, “I could earn more from selling my toenail clippings than farming. And I have a horrible feeling that this year will be worse than ever.”
To boost farm traffic, Clarkson has floated ideas like introducing an outdoor cinema, a concept he discussed earlier this year.
