Man Seriously Injured in Seven-Vehicle Crash on A40

A serious multi-vehicle collision on the A40 in Longlevens has left one man hospitalized and caused extended road closures.

Gloucestershire Police responded to reports of a seven-vehicle crash near the Elmbridge Court roundabout at approximately 1:50 pm on June 18. An elderly man in his 80s sustained head injuries and was promptly taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Fortunately, no other individuals involved in the collision required hospital treatment.

A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation as police continue their inquiries.

Road closures between the Insworth roundabout and Elmbridge Court roundabout were implemented during the police investigation but have now been lifted. Authorities are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage related to the incident to come forward.
