Man Jailed After Drugs, Cash, and Weapons Found Following Police Chase

A 26-year-old man from Birmingham has been sentenced to eight years in prison after police uncovered a significant cache of drugs, cash, and weapons in his vehicle. Cumar Cumar, residing on Eastwood Road, Balsall Heath, was convicted at Gloucester Crown Court on March 24, 2025, after pleading guilty to multiple serious charges.

Police initially stopped Cumar in August 2025 near Lydney after noticing his suspicious driving behavior in an Audi. During the search, officers found 100 wraps of crack cocaine packaged for sale, a lock knife, and over £5,000 in cash stored in a rucksack. Additional evidence collected at the scene included two mobile phones and a jacket containing more Class A drugs. Notably, police discovered the car was registered under the alias Kamari Gordon, a name Cumar initially gave when questioned.

The situation escalated on November 23, 2025, when Cumar was involved in a police pursuit after failing to stop in the Bream area. The chase ended when the Audi crashed into a parked vehicle, and Cumar fled on foot. Upon searching the abandoned car, officers found a loaded 9mm pistol in the boot—an illegally modified starting pistol capable of firing live rounds. Further forensic analysis, including DNA evidence, linked Cumar directly to the firearm.

Cumar was arrested on November 28, 2025, in Shepherds Gardens, Birmingham, and faced charges covering possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (cocaine and heroin), possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of offensive weapons, possession of criminal property, and dangerous driving.

Gloucestershire Police confirmed that Cumar’s attempt to distribute drugs in the Forest of Dean area has been thwarted through this arrest and subsequent sentencing, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crime in the region.
