A tragic accident occurred early Tuesday morning in Leominster, near Gloucestershire, when a bin lorry collided with a building, resulting in the death of one man. The incident took place around 6:40 a.m. near the mini roundabout at the junction of Bridge Street and Mill Street.

According to West Mercia Police, three individuals were inside the lorry at the time of the crash. The vehicle reportedly left the road before crashing into the building, which was initially believed to be a residential property but has since been confirmed as unoccupied. Fortunately, no one was inside the building when the collision took place.

A male passenger in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and a second passenger sustained injuries that required hospital treatment but are not considered life-threatening.

Emergency services continue to work on securing the building, with a cordon still in place. Local authorities have closed surrounding roads and have advised residents and commuters to avoid the Mill Street area and seek alternative routes as closures are expected to remain for an extended period.

Superintendent Helen Wain, speaking on behalf of the Tactical Coordination Group, expressed condolences: “Our thoughts are with all those affected. We are working diligently alongside fire services and local agencies to ensure safety and restore normality to the area.”
