A 41-year-old man, Anachi Thomas, has been charged with raping a woman in Gloucester and appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, June 23. Thomas, who has no fixed address, was remanded in custody ahead of a court hearing scheduled for July 22 at Gloucester Crown Court.
The charge stems from an incident reported on Sunday, June 21, when police were alerted to an alleged rape on Stroud Road at approximately 10:30 p.m. Gloucestershire Police have expressed gratitude to those who have already come forward and continue to urge anyone living in the area to report any sightings of a man and woman walking between Tredworth and Stroud Road between 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
Authorities are also requesting anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to assist with the investigation. Police believe the individuals involved are known to each other and emphasize that the inquiry is in its early stages.
