A man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred at a Traveller site near Gloucestershire.
Wiltshire Police responded to reports from the site in Calcutt, near Cricklade, at approximately 8:15am on Sunday, 2 August. The victim has been officially identified as 36-year-old father Jimmy Ward, who died as a result of a gunshot wound. Following the incident, police launched a murder investigation.
Shane Porter, 35, of Calcutt Park, Calcutt, has been charged with murder along with possession of a shotgun without a certificate. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear via video link at the magistrates’ court on Thursday morning, 6 August.

Two others, Eddie Porter, 74, and Tammy Brown, 42, both from Luton, face charges of assisting an offender and possession of a shotgun without a certificate. They have also been remanded in custody and will appear via video link at court on the same day.
Additionally, two other men who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have since been released on bail.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker, from the Major Crime Investigation Team, commented:
“My thoughts continue to be with Jimmy’s next of kin at this difficult time.
A scene and increased policing presence will remain at the site in the coming days while further activity is carried out.
I would like to express my gratitude to the local community for their patience and support since Sunday.
