Wiltshire Police have charged a man with murder after a fatal shooting at a Traveller site located in Calcutt, near Cricklade, Gloucestershire.
Officers responded to reports at approximately 8.15am on Sunday, 2 August. The victim, identified as 36-year-old father Jimmy Ward, sustained a fatal gunshot wound, prompting an immediate murder investigation.
Shane Porter, 35, of Calcutt Park, has been formally charged with murder and possession of a shotgun without a certificate. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear via video link at magistrates’ court on Thursday, 6 August.

Additionally, Eddie Porter, 74, and Tammy Brown, 42, both from Luton, face charges of assisting an offender and possession of a shotgun without a certificate. They too have been remanded in custody and will appear via video link tomorrow.
Two other men initially arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released on bail.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker, leading the Major Crime Investigation Team, commented:
“My thoughts continue to be with Jimmy’s next of kin at this difficult time.
A scene and increased police presence will remain at the site in the coming days while further enquiries are conducted.
I would like to thank the local community for their patience and support since Sunday.
Given the significant concerns this incident has caused, I encourage anyone with information or concerns to come forward and speak with officers.”
