Andy Bolton, a 64-year-old resident of Gloucester, believes he has recorded undeniable evidence of paranormal activity within one of the city’s most historic and haunted buildings—Blackfriars. During a ghost hunt in February, Andy managed to capture an eerie image that appears to show the silhouette of a ghostly dog, complete with glowing eyes, a discovery that has left both him and fellow ghost hunters unnerved.
With a growing passion for the paranormal over recent years, Andy has dedicated himself to uncovering and documenting supernatural phenomena. On the night of February 3-4, armed with his phone camera, he explored the darkened south wing on the first floor of Blackfriars, hoping to capture any unusual activity. Reviewing his photos later, he noticed a distinct large shadow.
“It wasn’t until a fellow ghost hunter pointed it out that I realized the shadow resembled a dog,” Andy recalls. “You can clearly see the pointed ears and eyes if you zoom in. I also caught a clear image of an orb during the same visit.”

In addition to photographic evidence, Andy conducted an experiment by placing three light-up cat toys, known as cat balls, on a window bay as part of the investigation. When he returned, one had mysteriously moved about ten feet away—something he believes was caused by paranormal forces.
Andy’s investigations extend beyond Gloucester. He has visited several notorious haunted locations across the UK, including The Ancient Ram Inn in Wotton-under-Edge and 30 East Drive in Pontefract, reputedly one of Europe’s most haunted houses. During his visit to the Pontefract property, he left a camera running outside a bedroom with the door firmly shut. Upon reviewing the footage, Andy was startled to see the door opening by itself, a compelling video he wishes to share with the world.
Perhaps the most striking experience for Andy occurred at the Folk Museum in Gloucester. While chatting with a friend before a ghost hunt, he pondered what it would take for him to truly believe in ghosts. Moments after expressing that he would need a physical or electrical sign, the lights suddenly went out, reinforcing his belief in the supernatural.
Andy Bolton continues his quest to document ghostly phenomena, eager to provide undeniable proof of life beyond the ordinary and urging others to keep an open mind about the mysterious world that surrounds us.
