Wiltshire Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder following a fatal shooting at a Traveller site near Gloucestershire.
Officers were called to the site in Calcutt, close to Cricklade, at approximately 8.15am on Sunday, 2 August. The victim, identified as 36-year-old Jimmy Ward, suffered a fatal gunshot wound. This led to the immediate launch of a murder investigation.
A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder earlier on Tuesday afternoon. Alongside him, two other men, aged 53 and 29, were detained on suspicion of assisting an offender. These arrests followed a vehicle stop on the A419.

In total, five individuals have now been arrested and are in police custody for questioning.
A police cordon remains established at the Traveller site, with an increased police presence as enquiries continue. The investigation is being led by the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT).
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker of the MCIT, who is the Senior Investigating Officer, stated:
“This is a significant development in our investigation. I can confirm that a man has been arrested on suspicion of Jimmy’s murder and is now in police custody, along with four other people on suspicion of assisting an offender.”
He added that Jimmy Ward’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Walker expressed gratitude towards the local community for their ongoing support and patience, acknowledging the concern caused by the incident. He urged residents to respect the police cordon and encouraged anyone with information or concerns to approach officers on site.
The investigation remains active, with police continuing to carry out enquiries at the Calcutt Traveller site.
