Man Arrested on Drug Charges Immediately Hospitalized After Confession

Carl Lee, 35, of Tewkesbury Road, was promptly taken to hospital after confessing to swallowing Class A drugs during his arrest by plainclothes officers on April 16. Earlier that day, police observed Lee meeting with two men near the Longford Roundabout. One of the men was quickly apprehended nearby and found in possession of Class A drugs, prompting further investigation which led to Lee’s identification.

Later, officers spotted Lee on Tewkesbury Road and arrested him on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs. During a search of a caravan where Lee resided, officers uncovered crack cocaine and heroin with an estimated street value of £6,200. In addition, nearly £1,000 in cash and a burner phone were seized.

While being searched, Lee admitted to swallowing some of the drugs, necessitating immediate medical attention and transport to hospital. At Gloucester Crown Court last month, Lee pleaded guilty to two counts of involvement in the supply of Class A drugs and was sentenced to three years imprisonment.
