A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing incident at a building site in the quiet village of Purton, Wiltshire.
The attack occurred this morning, Thursday, July 23, at the Widham Gardens building site. Wiltshire Police were called at 11:05 am after reports that a man had been stabbed with a screwdriver.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was rushed to hospital in a life-threatening condition. Authorities confirmed that a 36-year-old man, known to the victim, was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder. A second 36-year-old man was also arrested for suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police have established a cordon around the site while carrying out their investigation. Currently, officers are not seeking any additional suspects, as this is believed to be a targeted and isolated incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Deb Hatch stated, “This is a serious incident which has left a man fighting for his life in hospital. His family have been informed, and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
“I can confirm we have arrested two individuals connected to the incident and are not looking for anyone else. We want to reassure the community that there is no wider threat, and this incident appears isolated.
“Police presence in the area will be increased over the coming hours and days. We encourage anyone who witnessed the event or has concerns to speak with officers.”
