Major Search Underway After Person Reported Entering Water in Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire Police are conducting an ongoing search along a stretch of the River Avon near Mythe Road in Tewkesbury after a person was reported to have entered the water on the evening of Friday, December 19.

Local residents observed a significant emergency response, including a police helicopter circling the area on both Friday night and Saturday. The operation involves a coordinated effort between several agencies, such as Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service, the National Police Air Service, and the Severn Area Rescue Association.

According to a spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary, the river is currently at a high and fast-flowing level due to recent heavy rainfall, complicating search efforts. Emergency services were alerted around 9 p.m. by the ambulance service after eyewitness reports. Despite extensive searches, the individual has not yet been found.
