Mad Dog Brewery Co is set to celebrate the launch of its new taproom at the former Fire Station in Cheltenham by offering a free pint to the first 100 customers. The family-owned brewery, celebrated for its 100% natural beers, will open the doors at noon on Saturday, December 13.
Located in the iconic building at St James Square, the taproom will showcase Mad Dog’s core range, including Kolsch style lager, Welsh Red Ale, American Pale Ale, Oatmeal Stout, and their signature Marmalade IPA. Each beer is made with natural ingredients sourced from the UK and pristine water from the Brecon Beacons, ensuring no artificial additives or preservatives are used. Notably, their core selection also includes certified gluten-free options.
Beyond exceptional beer, visitors can enjoy a menu featuring top-quality smoked barbecue meats, small plates for lunch, and freshly prepared Sunday roasts available for purchase. This new Cheltenham venue marks Mad Dog Brewery’s fourth taproom opening in as many years, joining successful locations in Cardiff, Brighton, and Tunbridge Wells.

Tim Waters, Managing Director of Mad Dog Brewery, emphasized the importance of the new taproom: “Opening in Cheltenham means supporting local businesses, the economy, and the community. We strive to create an inclusive, welcoming environment—whether you’re visiting with family or friends, our taproom is a place to relax and enjoy great beer and food.”
The former fire station has a rich history dating back to 1906 and was previously converted into a pub in 2016 before closing in 2022. Mad Dog Brewery aims to revive this historic site as a vibrant social hub in the heart of Cheltenham.
The new taproom is conveniently located opposite The Sober Parrot, near the Chelt Walk car park, and within walking distance of Waitrose, making it an accessible destination for locals and visitors alike.
