M5 Michaelwood Services Temporary Closure Due to Power Outage

Michaelwood Services on the M5, located just outside Bristol, experienced a temporary closure this morning, Thursday, July 3, due to a power outage caused by ongoing maintenance work at the site. Power has since been restored, allowing the service station to reopen briefly.

However, the services will close again later today from 3pm to 5pm, as further essential work is planned. Drivers using the M5 southbound between junctions 13 and 14 are advised to use the nearby Gordano Services at junction 19 during these closure periods.

A spokesperson from Welcome Break explained, “The power outage this morning was a direct result of maintenance works at Michaelwood Services. We expect the site to be closed this afternoon between 3pm and 5pm to complete necessary work. In the meantime, we recommend customers stop at Gordano Services, approximately 20 minutes further down the M5.”
