Gloucester City manager Daf Williams expressed satisfaction following his team’s dominant 3-0 home win against Plymouth Parkway on Saturday. With just six games remaining in their quest for second place, this was a crucial match against an injury-hit Plymouth side.
From the start, Gloucester City exerted control, patiently searching for a breakthrough. Their efforts paid off in the 31st minute when Joe Hanks expertly controlled a superb ball over the top and finished decisively. Just four minutes later, City doubled their lead after a slick move saw Rylie Siddall feed Kane Simpson, whose deflected shot found the net, leaving the Plymouth goalkeeper helpless.
The second half saw Gloucester maintain their composure and defensive solidity, denying Parkway any meaningful chances while looking to close out the game. In the 70th minute, excellent interplay between Simpson and Hanks culminated in Simpson scoring his fifth goal in two matches, firmly sealing the 3-0 victory.

With this win, Gloucester now sit two points ahead of Farnham Town for the all-important second spot, although they have played two more games. The season’s final stretch promises to be a nail-biting race, with home advantage in the playoffs on the line.
Williams praised his team’s overall performance, especially their ball possession and defensive organization. “We showed signs of the quality we had earlier in the season,” he said. “Our defensive discipline was solid, and we challenged the players to maintain a clean sheet mentality in the second half, which they achieved.”
Highlighting squad depth as a key factor, Williams welcomed new signing James Waite, who made his debut off the bench after joining permanently from Eastleigh on Thursday. Daniel Leadbitter also returned after a lengthy injury layoff. Williams emphasized the advantage of having a competitive and versatile squad for the demanding matches ahead. “It’s not about any individual but the team. We’re pleased to be in this position going into the final stage of the season,” he added.
