Forest Green Rovers midfielder Liam Sercombe has joined National League South side Weston-super-Mare on loan, seeking more regular first-team football.
The 33-year-old attacking midfielder has had limited opportunities this season, making just one appearance under new Forest Green manager Robbie Savage—a half-time substitute in the National League Cup defeat to West Bromwich Albion Under-21s.
Sercombe was instrumental in Forest Green’s strong performance last season, contributing to their third-place finish in the National League and their play-off semi-final clash against Southend United. Unfortunately, he missed a crucial penalty in the shoot-out of that semi-final. Over his career, the seasoned midfielder has amassed 621 league appearances, representing clubs including Cheltenham Town, Bristol Rovers, Oxford United, Exeter City—where he began his career—and Forest Green Rovers.

Weston-super-Mare currently sit second in the National League South, trailing league leaders Hornchurch by six points but holding two games in hand. Recently, Scott Rogers replaced Scott Bartlett as manager following Bartlett’s move to National League club Eastleigh.
Sercombe is expected to make his debut for Weston-super-Mare this weekend in their FA Trophy away fixture against Chippenham, bringing experience and creativity to the squad as they push toward the top of the table.
