The Cirencester area in the Cotswolds has long attracted celebrities, with well-known figures like Nick Knowles, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, and Ellie Goulding having owned homes nearby. Now, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has added his name to the prestigious list by purchasing the impressive Dockem House in the village of Coates.
At 53 years old, the Britpop icon bought the £4.25 million estate towards the end of 2025. The sizeable property lies just four miles from Cirencester town centre and was previously owned by former Arsenal captain and manager Tony Adams, who held the home for more than two decades.
Coates is a small, close-knit village of around 500 residents, accustomed to having famous neighbours but still buzzing with excitement at Gallagher’s arrival. Jan Edmonds, a 12-year resident and organiser of the village’s Coffee, Cake and Chat mornings, expressed warm anticipation. “He’s a celebrity known across generations. We’re a friendly community and will certainly welcome him. Even if Dockem House is his country retreat, we look forward to seeing him and his family.”

Jan added with a smile, “We’d be happy to play Oasis on Spotify during Coffee, Cake and Chat for him!” She noted that while Tony Adams was somewhat involved in local life, Gallagher might enjoy the balance of privacy and community spirit the area offers. “I think it’s a positive move. He’s matured since his younger days, and if we get invited to one of his parties, we’ll definitely go!”
Local dog walker Paul Stephenson joked about replacing Tony Adams with a new high-profile owner. “As an Arsenal fan, I was sad to see Tony go, but it’s good for the village. We have many upscale homes here, and the celebrities blend into village life, which keeps it special.” He added that with Gallagher’s known love of dogs, the community might spot him on local walks.
Another village hall volunteer, Anthony, echoed a hopeful but realistic view. “Liam might be just another resident who keeps to himself. Tony was nice but kept a low profile. Maybe Liam will surprise us—perhaps donate to a new village hall—but either way, Coates is a welcoming place.”
Some residents were uniformly positive, confident that Gallagher would enjoy the serene surroundings. One resident without a name said, “He’ll love living here. Everyone is always welcomed in Coates.” Yet, not all were fans—an anonymous local voiced indifference and personal dislike of Oasis, but acknowledged it won’t affect village life.
Overall, Liam Gallagher’s move to Coates brings a blend of curiosity and enthusiasm as the village embraces its latest celebrity resident.
