Liam Gallagher Joins Cotswolds Community with New Coates Home

The picturesque Cirencester area has long attracted celebrities, boasting residents like Nick Knowles, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, and Ellie Goulding. Adding to this illustrious list is Liam Gallagher, the iconic Britpop singer and former Oasis frontman.

At the end of 2025, Liam, 53, acquired Dockem House, a £4.25 million estate located in the quaint village of Coates, just four miles from Cirencester town centre. The impressive property was previously owned by Tony Adams, the former Arsenal captain and manager, who had purchased it back in 2002.

With Coates home to a tight-knit community of around 500 people, residents have expressed enthusiasm about their new neighbour. Jan Edmonds, a local and organiser of the village’s monthly Coffee, Cake and Chat events, shared her excitement: “He’s a celebrity known across generations. We’re a friendly village and will warmly welcome him. Whether it’s a country home or more, it’s lovely to have him here.”

Jan hopes Liam might integrate with village life, perhaps even dropping by the nearby bar or attending local events, jokingly promising to play Oasis music at their gatherings. She recalled Tony Adams’ modest involvement in local affairs and expects Liam to enjoy the privacy the area offers while remaining open to connection with the community.

Local dog walker Paul Stephenson commented with a touch of humour on the shift from a former Arsenal captain to a Manchester City fan, noting, “We don’t often see many celebrities despite the high-value homes, but if Liam joins in village activities, that’d be great.” He is optimistic about spotting Liam on dog walks and praised the village’s charm as an ideal retreat.

Village hall volunteer Anthony shared a more reserved perspective, noting that previous wealthy residents like Tony Adams maintained low profiles, engaging only modestly with the community. “If Liam contributes to the village, such as funding a new hall, that would be welcome, but it’s uncertain,” he remarked.

Other locals expressed warm sentiments about welcoming Liam to Coates, confident he would enjoy living in this friendly village. However, a lone dissenting voice dismissed interest in the star, underscoring the blend of opinions alongside community warmth.

In all, Liam Gallagher’s arrival adds a new dimension to Coates, where calm country life meets the allure of celebrity, much to the delight of many residents eager to embrace their famed newcomer.
