Cheltenham Town have secured the signing of 17-year-old winger Jake Evans on a season-long loan from Leicester City. Evans, who will turn 18 on 21 August, completed his medical on Monday morning and will join fellow Foxes loanee Kirsten Otchere at Whaddon Road.
Evans becomes Cheltenham’s ninth new acquisition of the summer and their second loan signing following Otchere, who made his debut as a substitute in Saturday’s Carabao Cup first round match against Charlton Athletic, which ended in defeat for the Robins.
The young winger is expected to be available for selection for Cheltenham’s opening League Two fixture of the 2026/27 season, a home game against Rotherham United scheduled for Saturday with a 3pm kick-off.

A former England Under-17 international, Evans spent last season on loan at Northampton Town, gaining valuable senior football experience. He scored twice in seven League One starts and made nine appearances as a substitute during the latter half of the season.
He was also part of the Leicester City squad as an unused substitute in the FA Cup third round tie at Whaddon Road on 10 January, a match where the Foxes secured a 2-0 victory.
Evans joined the Leicester academy as an Under-9 and signed his first professional contract with the club in October 2025. During the second half of the 2024/25 Premier League season, he made four substitute appearances for Leicester’s first team against Brighton, Southampton, Ipswich Town and Bournemouth. Recently, he committed his future to the Foxes by signing a new three-year contract.
Robins manager Steve Cotterill expressed his enthusiasm about the signing, stating: “Jake has been one of my targets throughout the summer. He is an exciting player and there was significant interest in him from clubs across League Two and beyond. I am delighted to welcome him to the club.
“As well as being an exciting player, it is important to remember he is still a young man learning his trade in men’s football. I look forward to working with him.”
Evans added: “I’m over the moon to be here. I have spoken to the gaffer several times and I’m really excited and ready to get going. I have had a taste of senior football and I want more. I can’t wait to play for the gaffer and the Robins fans - I will give my all for this football club.”
