Laurent Mendy Secures Record Move to Hearts with Robbie Savage’s Endorsement

Heart of Midlothian have confirmed the signing of French-born midfielder Laurent Mendy from Forest Green Rovers in a club-record transfer that could eventually approach £1 million. The 29-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Edinburgh-based club, marking a significant step up in his career.

Mendy, who can operate both as a midfielder and central defender, captained Forest Green to last season’s National League play-offs. He joined Forest Green following manager Robbie Savage from Macclesfield, and made 47 appearances for the club.

Having spent most of his career in England’s non-league system, with a brief stint in Sweden’s fourth division, Mendy’s move to Hearts represents a major progression. Robbie Savage, now at Hearts, praised the midfielder, stating, “This is an incredible opportunity for Laurent. I couldn’t stand in the way of his career advancement and improving life for him and his family, especially while securing a record fee for the club. They are getting not only a fantastic player but also a fantastic person. I’m immensely proud of him.”
