Laurent Mendy Joins Hearts with Robbie Savage’s Endorsement

Heart of Midlothian has confirmed the signing of midfielder Laurent Mendy from Forest Green Rovers in a landmark deal that could reach close to £1 million.

The National League club revealed they accepted a club-record transfer fee for the French-born midfielder, who has committed to a three-year contract at Tynecastle Stadium.

At 29 years old, Mendy captained Forest Green to last season’s National League play-offs, following manager Robbie Savage from Macclesfield Town. Capable of playing both in midfield and central defense, Mendy made 47 appearances for Forest Green during his tenure.

His career has largely unfolded within England’s non-league system, with the exception of one season spent in Sweden’s fourth tier.

Robbie Savage expressed his support on the club’s official website: “This is an incredible opportunity for Laurent. I couldn’t stand in the way of his career advancement or improving life for him and his family, while also securing a record fee for the club.

“Hearts are getting not only a remarkable player but an outstanding individual. I’m extremely proud of him.”
