King Charles receives new one-word Italian nickname and touching gift

During the recent state visit to Italy, King Charles III and Queen Camilla received a surprising and heartfelt gift from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni – personalized jars of Nutella, along with a note suggesting it as a comforting treat for rainy days.

The special touch was the nickname “Carlo” printed on King Charles’s jar. Commenting on the endearing gesture, The Times' Assistant Editor Kate Mansey mentioned that the Italians had taken to referring to the King as “Carlo.” She expressed her fondness for the nickname, suggesting that it should catch on in Britain.

The gesture is especially significant as Nutella, produced by Ferrero, is a beloved Italian export. A spokesperson for Ferrero mentioned that they were delighted to provide the personalized jars as state gifts.
