King Charles has reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s steadfast commitment to Ukraine, delivering a heartfelt message on the first anniversary of the UK-Ukraine 100-Year Partnership. His written statement highlights the nation’s enduring support as the fourth anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine approaches later this month.
Addressing Ukrainians, the King said, “As we look ahead to the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion of your beloved country – a time of great anguish for many families across Ukraine and the world – my wife and I keep you all in our heartfelt thoughts and prayers. I wish, above all, to convey my profound hope that Ukraine can achieve a just and lasting peace that safeguards its security, sovereignty, and prosperity, in a way that Ukrainians deserve. We stand with you.”
The centenary partnership, celebrated this year, was established through a treaty and political declaration aimed at deepening ties between the UK and Ukraine. Its key areas of cooperation include military collaboration focusing on maritime security, healthcare initiatives, agricultural technology advancements, and the space industry. Additionally, cultural exchanges and educational projects will further strengthen the bond between the two nations.

Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy has reportedly traveled to Ukraine to attend a forum commemorating the partnership’s anniversary, where discussions on future cooperation are taking place.
King Charles has consistently shown public support for Ukraine since the onset of the Russian invasion. He has engaged with Ukrainian refugees in the UK and featured the Songs for Ukraine Chorus in his recent Christmas Day broadcast.
Reflecting on Ukraine’s resilience, King Charles remarked: “Ukraine’s most valiant strength in the face of such appalling hardship and pain is an extraordinary example to the world, and I am constantly impressed by the sheer bravery, courage, and resilience shown by the Ukrainian people. As we celebrate this milestone in our partnership, I pray that the flourishing bonds between our two countries bring hope and moral support during this most difficult time.”
