King Charles III Responds to Huntingdon Train Stabbing Attack

King Charles III has expressed his shock and sympathy following the horrific knife attack aboard a train in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. In an official statement from Buckingham Palace, the King said, “My wife and I were truly appalled and shocked to hear of the dreadful knife attack that took place on board a train in Cambridgeshire last night. Our deepest sympathy and thoughts are with all those affected, and their loved ones. We are particularly grateful to the emergency services for their response to this awful incident.”

The stabbing left 11 people injured and taken to hospital. Among them, two individuals remain in life-threatening condition, while four have since been discharged.

Police quickly arrested two men suspected of attempted murder—a 32-year-old Black British man and a 35-year-old British man of Caribbean descent. Authorities have confirmed that there is no current evidence linking the attack to terrorism.

Armed officers responded swiftly, boarding the train and apprehending the suspects within eight minutes of emergency calls made by passengers around 7:42 p.m. on Saturday, November 1.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood also honored the courage of those involved, including staff and passengers. On social media, she stated, “After last night’s horrific attack, my thoughts today are with the victims, their friends and family. My deepest thanks go to the British Transport Police, Cambridgeshire Police, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service, and the East of England Ambulance Service. They responded rapidly, with the utmost professionalism and saved lives.”

She further emphasized that the attack is not being treated as terrorism and reaffirmed that the two suspects are British-born nationals. The investigation remains ongoing, with regular updates being provided by police.
