Kelvin Fletcher shared an optimistic update as he and his family move closer to returning to their farm after a devastating fire destroyed their Peak District farmhouse. The former Emmerdale star, alongside his wife Liz and their four children, have been living in temporary accommodation since the fire occurred while they were away.
Describing the fire as “the stuff of nightmares,” Kelvin opened up about the emotional toll on his family but expressed hope for the future. In a recent episode of their ITV show, Fletchers' Family Farm, the couple explored the possibility of installing a temporary lodge on their property. This would allow them to stay onsite during the farmhouse’s restoration.
“Renovations to the farmhouse have not yet started,” Kelvin explained. “But we are desperate to get back on the farm. Liz and I are determined to find a solution. I think about the farm every minute—it’s strange not being there. There’s a constant worry; it just doesn’t feel the same.”

Liz echoed the sentiment, recalling the difficult period they have faced. “It was tough for all of us,” she said. “We just have to take it one step at a time. We’re so grateful for the temporary accommodation, and the plan is to rebuild and return. It’ll become a story to tell.”
The couple is now consulting with experts who specialise in lodges and cabins to see if a temporary dwelling can be placed on their land while rebuilding continues. Kelvin expressed eagerness for the project, stating, “For me, the lodge can’t come soon enough.”
After months of uncertainty, Kelvin feels encouraged by their proactive steps. “It’s exciting to be making plans to bring the family back to the farm,” he added. “There definitely feels like there’s light at the end of the tunnel. The countdown to returning home has begun.”
Fletchers' Family Farm is broadcast on ITV.
