Kelvin Fletcher Announces Exciting New Arrival on Fletcher’s Family Farm

On Sunday’s episode of Fletcher’s Family Farm, Kelvin Fletcher delighted fans with wonderful pregnancy news: his treasured cow, Ruby, is expecting a calf. This announcement was especially poignant given Ruby’s recent miscarriage, a heartbreak that required patience and careful monitoring from the Fletcher family.

The show revealed that Ruby is now approximately 14 weeks pregnant, signaling a joyful addition soon to arrive at their Cheshire farm. Before the vet’s confirmation, Kelvin shared the emotional journey: “Several weeks ago, we got the sad news that our much-loved cow Ruby miscarried her calf. Thankfully, she was soon well enough to run with our young bull again, and today, we will find out if he’s done his job.”

Veterinary surgeon Hugo, who visited the farm to check on the herd’s health, confirmed Ruby’s pregnancy and also conducted vital TB testing on the cattle. Tuberculosis remains a serious concern for farmers across England and Wales, and regular testing every six months is crucial. Hugo took hair samples from the herd to screen for the disease, highlighting the ongoing challenges farmers face.

Kelvin expressed the emotional toll of such testing: “Anybody who keeps cattle has to go through this every six months. If you do get a reaction, and if they deem it conclusive, that animal needs to be culled. It’s devastating on your herd.”

Despite missing the upcoming Cheshire Royal Show due to timing, Ruby’s pregnancy brings great hope. “I’m so thrilled for Ruby,” Kelvin said with a smile. “She produced such a cracking calf last year. I just hope this one is a simpler birth.” The Fletchers eagerly await the new arrival that will continue their farm’s legacy.

Fletcher’s Family Farm is available to watch on ITVX.
