Gloucester City delivered a commanding performance on Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 5-0 win over Wimborne Town at home. Manager Daf Williams was full of praise for his side after the emphatic victory.
The Tigers took the lead in the 26th minute when Joe Hanks expertly finished off a precise cross from Morgan Lewis. Just three minutes later, Rylie Siddall’s cross found Kane Simpson wide open, and the forward calmly doubled the advantage for Gloucester.
Simpson wasn’t finished there. Two minutes afterward, he found space again to slot past keeper Ben Rodwell and complete his brace, putting the home side firmly in control.

The second half started in spectacular fashion, with Siddall dazzling past defenders and rounding the keeper before setting up Simpson for his third goal just two minutes into the half, sealing his hat-trick.
Gloucester weren’t done scoring. In the 60th minute, Elis Watts curled a stunning strike into the left-hand corner, capping off a comprehensive victory that showcased the team’s attacking prowess and defensive solidity.
Williams reflected on the dominant display: “Wimborne started strongly, and it took us about 10 minutes to settle, but once we did, we controlled the game comfortably. The players adapted quickly on their own, solving a few minor issues and that made all the difference.”
The 5-0 scoreline matched Gloucester’s joint biggest win of the season. Williams was also quick to highlight the defence’s vital role, especially Michael O’Regan’s standout performance in the heart of the backline.
“We earned the clean sheet through a real collective effort. Kane’s hat-trick grabbed the headlines, but O’Regan was outstanding today. Centre-halves rarely get applause after a five-goal haul, but he deserved it,” he added.
The game also saw positive off-field news as the club extended the loans of both Jamal Mohammed and Rylie Siddall until the season’s end. Williams expressed optimism about strengthening the squad further.
“We’re thrilled to keep Rylie and Jamal for longer. Their contributions are invaluable. We also have Liam Cross and Zak Ali with us, and maybe a couple more additions could come soon,” he said.
