Television personality Julia Bradbury is contemplating a significant change in her family’s life with her husband and three children.
Currently residing in North London with her husband Gerard Cunningham and their nine-year-old twins, Zena and Xanthe, as well as 13-year-old son Zephyr, the 54-year-old has been a fixture on television screens for years, with a decade-long tenure on Countryfile.
A passionate walker, Julia has ventured into creating programs exploring the great outdoors, such as Britain’s Best Walks. Following her 2021 breast cancer battle and subsequent double mastectomy, she decided to revamp her life, delving into “the science of wellbeing”.
Penning a book titled Walk Yourself Happy and establishing the charitable Outdoor Guide Foundation, which aims to equip UK primary schools with wellies and waterproofs, is part of Julia’s newfound direction. Given her strong connection to nature, Julia revealed that her family is open to the idea of leaving the hustle and bustle of London for a more serene location.
In an interview with Bella magazine, Julia shared, “I’ve been very happy living in North London, but now I am beginning to think it would be nice to be closer to a lovely forest, especially as the kids are getting older. So, yes, it is very much on our radar.”
The TV personality expressed concerns over children spending less time outdoors than ever before as she discussed her charitable endeavor, aiming to eliminate the financial barrier preventing some children from experiencing nature.
Julia’s television career kicked off on cable TV before her stint as a Los Angeles correspondent for ITV. Additionally, she was among the first presenters on Channel 5 during its 1998 launch and later fronted Watchdog from 2005 to 2009. She also aided in the revival of Countryfile alongside Matt Baker.
While admitting that her shift towards outdoor and wildlife programs was a significant change from her previous work, Julia finds her current transition into the realm of wellness to be a natural progression.
Set to feature on James Martin’s Saturday Morning on ITV One, Julia will join chefs Lisa Goodwin-Allen and Judy Joo as well as First Dates star Merlin Griffiths.
