Jonathan Ross recently opened up about a permanent scar on his forehead during an appearance on the By The Way with Harriet Rose podcast. Complimented as “a bit of a zaddy”—a term for an attractive and stylish man—the 65-year-old broadcaster revealed he has never had Botox. Instead, he explained the story behind the visible mark on his forehead.
Ross shared that when he was 17, he had a lump removed via the NHS, which left a scar and affected the movement of one side of his forehead. “You can see the scar there, and when I wrinkle my forehead only half goes up, because the other half hasn’t got any meat in it,” he explained.
In the same episode, Jonathan recounted a recent health scare during a trip to Japan. After wearing uncomfortable Gucci trainers for a short time, which hurt his feet, he experienced a worsening toothache. Although a dentist assured him he could wait until returning home, the pressure change during his flight exacerbated the problem. Upon arrival in Tokyo, his face had swollen significantly, making it impossible for his phone’s facial recognition to work.

With difficulty, Ross found an emergency English-speaking dentist who treated him and prescribed strong painkillers, enabling him to continue his trip despite the ordeal.
Jonathan’s openness about health extends to his family as well. His 34-year-old daughter, Betty, has publicly shared her battle with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). She has credited the use of a wheelchair with helping her maintain an active life despite her conditions.
On Instagram, Betty described her wheelchair as “liberating,” emphasizing its positive impact on her independence and quality of life by allowing her to enjoy outings and create memories even on difficult days.
