Jet2 has delivered reassuring news to UK holidaymakers with flights booked for this summer, amid escalating concerns about jet fuel shortages and soaring prices triggered by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The airline has pledged not to impose any additional surcharges on booked flights or holidays, providing certainty to travellers during an unpredictable period.
The fears stem from recent developments, including the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing conflicts involving Iran, which have raised alarms about potential disruptions to jet fuel supply chains. EU Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen recently warned that many holidays could be impacted by cancellations or dramatically increased ticket prices due to rising fuel costs. He cautioned that while the current crisis primarily involves pricing, there is a risk that supply shortages could emerge if the situation persists.
Despite such warning signals, Jet2 has firmly committed to its customers by removing any provisions for post-booking fuel surcharges. This policy applies universally to all flights and holiday packages booked through any channel—whether online, mobile app, contact center, or independent travel agents—ensuring the price customers pay today is the price they will pay on their holiday. The only exceptions remain mandatory tourist taxes collected directly by accommodation providers at the destination.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2, emphasized: “Holidaymakers should have every right to book their hard-earned break without the anxiety of unexpected extra charges. By guaranteeing no surcharges, Jet2 stands behind its promise to deliver value, reliability, and outstanding service — especially in a challenging global environment.”
The Department for Transport (DfT) has also issued guidance confirming that there’s no immediate need for passengers to change travel plans. UK airlines pre-purchase jet fuel and airports maintain reserves, aiming to safeguard against supply disruptions. Should cancellations occur, passengers retain full legal rights, including refunds and rebooking options.
Jet2’s proactive stance offers a significant reassurance to travellers eager to enjoy their holidays without financial uncertainty, reinforcing why Jet2 remains a trusted choice for millions of UK holidaymakers each year.
