Jet2 has informed thousands of passengers with upcoming holidays that their travel documents will be sent out later than previously expected. Customers have received emails explaining that, starting from their forthcoming trips, documentation will arrive 14 days before departure instead of the traditional 28 days.
Amid concerns raised on social media about potential scams, Jet2 has reassured travellers that the communications are genuine. Following updates made to its terms and conditions last week, the airline confirmed the revised timing on its website, stating customers should not contact them unless they need further assistance. The email message reads: “Just so you know, following a change to when we send out the documents for your holiday, you’ll now receive your documents 14 days before departure, rather than 28 days as stated on your original booking confirmation. You don’t need to contact us or take any action - you’ll receive your documents 14 days before you travel. Have a lovely holiday!”
Jet2 responded directly on X (formerly Twitter), confirming the change and offering support for any enquiries.

This adjustment occurs amid rising concerns linked to the ongoing Middle East crisis, which has driven fuel prices higher and challenged the aviation industry. Other carriers have reported financial impacts attributed to escalating jet fuel costs. For example, Wizz Air recently cited losses during this “extremely volatile” period, while Ryanair revealed that its quarterly profits fell by more than a third following a doubling in fuel prices spurred by tension related to the Iran conflict.
Earlier this year, some passengers took to social media to verify the authenticity of the emails after reports emerged of fake Jet2 accounts trying to scam customers.
In addition to the documentation update, Jet2 has highlighted upcoming European Union regulations scheduled for 2027. These new rules aim to simplify air fare and baggage allowance information, enabling travellers to compare options more transparently.
Jet2 emphasises that its current luggage policy already aligns with these goals, as it includes a free 10kg hand luggage allowance plus a personal item on every booking. This approach contrasts with some budget airlines that charge extra for cabin bags. According to Jet2, around 80% of customers cite the complimentary hand luggage allowance as a key reason for choosing to fly with them.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2, commented: “For Jet2 customers, these new rules change nothing because we have always believed in doing the right thing by customers when it comes to hand luggage. We welcome any move that helps customers better understand what is included in the price of their flight and make informed decisions when comparing airlines. It is another example of why customers continue to choose Jet2 in record numbers – because they know exactly what they’re getting when they book.”
The airline’s communication coincides with efforts by European regulators to standardise fare presentations and optional extras disclosure. The measures aim to help passengers understand the true cost of flights before booking, enhancing clarity and confidence across the industry.
