Jet2 has informed thousands of travellers that holiday documentation for upcoming trips will now be dispatched 14 days before departure, rather than the previous 28-day timeframe. This change was communicated through emails sent to customers, prompting some uncertainty and questions on social media about the authenticity of the messages.
In response, Jet2 has reassured passengers that the emails are genuine. An official statement on their website, updated last week, confirms that travel documents will be sent closer to the departure date. The airline’s email to customers states: “Just so you know, following a change to when we send out the documents for your holiday, you’ll now receive your documents 14 days before departure, rather than 28 days as stated on your original booking confirmation. You don’t need to contact us or take any action - you’ll receive your documents 14 days before you travel. Have a lovely holiday!”
Jet2 also responded to enquiries on the social platform X, confirming the change and offering further assistance via direct messages.

This adjustment in documentation timing comes amid a challenging period for airlines, with growing concerns over rising jet fuel costs linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict. Carriers such as Wizz Air have reported losses in this volatile environment, and Ryanair recently disclosed a significant decline in quarterly profits, citing doubled fuel prices as a key factor.
Some customers expressed worries about the recent emails due to the proliferation of fake social media profiles impersonating Jet2, but the airline has been proactive in addressing these concerns and guiding passengers.
Separately, Jet2 has commented on forthcoming European Union regulations expected to come into force in 2027. These rules aim to enhance transparency by standardising how airlines present airfares and baggage allowances, making it easier for passengers to compare prices before booking.
Jet2 reassures its customers that it already includes a free 10kg hand luggage allowance plus a personal item with every booking, unlike some budget airlines that charge extra for hand luggage. The airline emphasises that these new EU measures will not affect its current baggage policy.
Steve Heapy, Jet2’s CEO, stated: “For Jet2 customers, these new rules change nothing because we have always believed in doing the right thing by customers when it comes to hand luggage. We welcome any move that helps customers better understand what is included in the price of their flight and make informed decisions when comparing airlines. It is another example of why customers continue to choose Jet2 in record numbers – because they know exactly what they’re getting when they book.”
This update highlights Jet2’s commitment to transparency and customer service amidst evolving industry challenges and regulatory changes.
