Jesy Nelson Reveals True Cause of Split with Zion Foster Amid Twins' SMA Diagnosis

Jesy Nelson has revealed that the heartbreaking diagnosis of her twin daughters with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) Type 1 played a major role in the end of her relationship with Zion Foster. The former Little Mix singer and Zion, who were engaged after four years together, have separated following the overwhelming challenges brought on by their babies’ rare condition.

In a recent interview, Jesy, 34, described how the “traumatic experience” of their twins’ health struggles created strain and changed the dynamic between them. “Our girls are our main priority and focus," Jesy explained. “Because we’ve both been through such trauma, the energy between us wasn’t right, which is understandable. But we’re still united in co-parenting our daughters.”

Jesy shared that the couple’s relationship has shifted from romantic partners to committed co-parents dedicated to providing the best life possible for their children. She emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive environment for their twins amid the challenges.

Jesy’s pregnancy was complicated by monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA) twin status and twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), where twins share a single placenta. Although the twins were born healthy, the joy was short-lived when they were diagnosed with SMA Type 1 just six months later. This rare genetic disorder causes progressive muscle weakness and deterioration.

Jesy candidly spoke about taking things day by day. “If I try to look too far ahead, it drives me crazy,” she said. “Right now, the girls are happy and doing well, and that’s what matters most.”

The story of Jesy’s pregnancy and motherhood journey will be highlighted in her new Prime Video series, Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix, which premieres February 13. The series chronicles her experiences from pregnancy through the emotions surrounding her recent breakup with Zion Foster, revealing the deep bond they once shared.

Despite the end of their romantic relationship, Jesy and Zion remain committed to raising their daughters together. Jesy concluded, “We’re still friends and our focus is solely on our girls.”
