Emily Clarkson, eldest daughter of Jeremy Clarkson, the host of Clarkson’s Farm, has spoken candidly for the first time about her parents’ divorce and its impact on her childhood.
During an episode of her podcast, Should I Delete That?, co-hosted with Alex Light, Emily shared how challenging it was to experience her parents’ separation in the public spotlight. Her mother, Francis Cain, and Jeremy Clarkson, who were married since 1993, announced their separation in 2014.
Emily described the experience as “really weird,” especially reading about something so personal in the media. “It’s weird as a kid to read something that you’re upset about,” she said. “As an adult, I can say I’ve literally never talked about this. It’s strange that I’m bringing it up now, but it’s a really odd thing to go through as a child.”

She also spoke about the added complexity of the press coverage linked to her father’s fame from Top Gear. “No one really talks about the press element because you’re focused on the big fire happening inside your home, rather than how it looks from the outside,” Emily explained.
Emily has previously discussed the challenges of being the daughter of a TV personality and has taken steps to protect her family from online harassment. On the same podcast, she revealed her efforts to combat trolls on gossip site Tattle Life, saying, “Tattle has been the biggest thorn in our sides. It’s affected me so much that I’ve had to block it on all devices. It’s comforting to know they can be found, and if pushed too far, I know who you are.”
Despite the difficult history, Emily maintains warm relations with Jeremy’s current girlfriend, Lisa Hogan. Lisa expressed her happiness about the positive relationship between Emily and her own daughter from a previous relationship. “Emily’s podcast, Shall I Delete That?, included such kind words about my daughter that it made me cry,” Lisa shared. “They’ve known each other for nine years and genuinely care about one another.”
