Emily Clarkson, daughter of former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson, has recently opened up about the difficulties she faced during her second pregnancy and her thoughts on expanding her family. The podcaster and author welcomed her second daughter, Xanthe, in December 2023, joining their eldest daughter, Arlo, born earlier that year in February.
Emily revealed that her second pregnancy was the toughest experience she has ever endured, largely due to hyperemesis gravidarum—a condition marked by severe, ongoing nausea and vomiting. She candidly described how ordinary things, such as the scent of her eldest daughter’s hair or even the idea of eating an avocado, triggered intense sickness. Despite these hardships, she noted that her symptoms eased as the pregnancy advanced, although she went through the entire period without consuming vegetables or water and was medicated throughout.
Reflecting on her struggles, Emily expressed the emotional toll of feeling unable to be as present for her first daughter while pregnant with her second. Yet, despite these challenges, she hinted at the possibility of welcoming a third child. In a conversation on her “Should I Delete That?” podcast with “The Only Way is Essex” star Kate Ferdinand, Emily shared, “I look at my kids sometimes on the sofa and think, ‘I’m not sure you’re all here yet.'”

She added, “I would like to have another child, for sure, in some capacity. My pregnancies were really difficult, so I’m not exactly sure what that will look like. But when I look at the sofa, there’s room. I don’t think you’re all here yet."
Kate Ferdinand humorously contrasted Emily’s openness with her own experience, remarking on how her family feels complete and how another child would be overwhelming.
Emily has carved out her own path in media, hosting podcasts and writing two books: Can I Speak to Someone in Charge? and Dear Pretty Normal Me. She is Jeremy Clarkson’s eldest child, with siblings Finlo and Katya from his previous marriage.
