Jeremy Clarkson to Continue Hosting ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ Despite Cancer Diagnosis

Jeremy Clarkson, the renowned TV presenter, will continue hosting both “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” and its spin-off quiz show “Millionaire Hot Seat” with 35 new episodes confirmed. This announcement comes shortly after Clarkson, aged 66, disclosed his diagnosis of an aggressive prostate cancer that was detected early during the latest season of his reality show, “Clarkson’s Farm.”

In an interview with The Sunday Times, Clarkson shared that a PSA test conducted two months prior showed no signs of cancer, and he is currently in remission. ITV confirmed on Monday that “Millionaire Hot Seat,” newly added to the Millionaire franchise earlier this year, has been recommissioned for an additional 20 episodes, all hosted by Clarkson.

The quiz format features contestants taking turns in a “hot seat” opposite Clarkson, answering questions to progress up the prize ladder. A wrong answer eliminates the contestant and reduces the top prize value. Players may also choose to pass, moving to the back of the queue, sometimes losing a chance to return to the hot seat where the grand prize can be won.

Clarkson will also return to present 15 new episodes of the flagship ITV quiz show “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” Recently, a retired IT analyst became the seventh contestant to win the £1 million jackpot on the show.

Katie Rawcliffe, ITV’s director of entertainment, reality, and daytime commissioning, praised the ongoing popularity of the Millionaire franchise. She noted, “The Millionaire brand continues to deliver for ITV audiences, and Millionaire Hot Seat has injected an exciting new energy. Jeremy Clarkson’s engaging hosting style combined with the intense gameplay creates a winning formula. We are thrilled to bring back both shows for more episodes.”

Filming for the new episodes of “Millionaire Hot Seat” and “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” will take place later this year, with broadcasts scheduled on ITV and the ITVX streaming platform.
