Jeremy Clarkson has shared candid and quirky details about his funeral plans following his recent heart health scare. The “Clarkson’s Farm” presenter intends to make his farewell anything but typical, aiming to create a “seriously inconvenient” send-off for those attending.
At 65 years old, Clarkson revealed he wants mourners to endure the entire 23-minute prog rock epic “Supper’s Ready” by Genesis at his funeral. Known for its length and complexity, this track is no ordinary tribute—it’s part of his desire to leave a memorable, if somewhat challenging, final impression.
Adding a touch of humor to his will, Clarkson plans to leave some friends small, cheeky bequests. For instance, he wants to give former “Top Gear” co-host James May a cow, believing this would likely irritate him. Similarly, he plans to bestow “all my trousers” to Richard Hammond, whose much shorter stature (5ft 6in) contrasts with Clarkson’s towering 6ft 5in frame.

These unconventional plans come after Clarkson’s frightening health episode last year. Doctors told him he was “days from death” after he was hospitalized with suspected heart attack symptoms. Fortunately, tests later revealed no heart attack had occurred. Still, Clarkson discovered that one artery was completely blocked and another was severely narrowing, a sobering wake-up call.
Clarkson explained in his Sunday Times column that these experiences prompted him to think seriously about mortality and post-life arrangements. “Eventually, I had everything planned out,” he said, underscoring both the humor and the seriousness in his approach to facing the inevitable.
Genesis’ “Supper’s Ready,” known for its elaborate and symbolic lyrics—including references to biblical themes and historical imagery—will serve as a unique musical tribute. Clarkson’s choice reflects his distinctive personality and his desire for a farewell that stands out.
