Jeremy Clarkson Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Chaos and PTSD From The Farmer’s Dog Pub Opening

Jeremy Clarkson has shared a candid and humorous glimpse into the tumultuous behind-the-scenes turmoil experienced during the opening of his pub, The Farmer’s Dog.

Although the pub’s launch last August appeared smooth and effortless to patrons, Clarkson reveals that backstage was a very different story. The former Top Gear presenter — now a farmer and TV personality — posted an Instagram video showing the hectic reality behind the gastro-pub’s debut, coinciding with the reveal on the fourth season of his Amazon Prime series, Clarkson’s Farm.

In the clip, a visibly stressed Clarkson responds to the question, “What have you done down here?” by deadpanning, “Opened a pub.” When asked about progress, he chuckles, rubbing his head and explains: “Look, everyone is really happy, but behind the scenes… it’s a swan. Down there, graceful, people having a nice time, but behind the scenes chaos. S*** show.”

The Instagram caption reflected on the memory with mixed emotions: “As you sit down to watch our pub opening in season 4 we remember last August… kind of fondly… but not entirely without a little PTSD.”

Fans quickly connected with Clarkson’s honest sharing, with the post garnering over 21,000 likes. Comments expressed sympathy and admiration for the team’s perseverance. One fan wrote, “You made it through, Jeremy and Team Clarkson’s Farm! I felt stressed out for you watching from the settee! Look what you’ve created, and all the good this will bring. Pat on the back!” Another commented, “I was legitimately stressed out watching the finale. Happy to see you’ve (hopefully) finally got some sleep.”

Appreciation for the new series and the pub itself was abundant. One viewer praised, “The new series has been fab, the pub is great.” Another shared a glowing review after dining there: “Had lunch there today and was so impressed! The food was so good and the Le Pop was one of the best glasses of bubbles I’ve ever had! Can’t wait to come back again sometime!”

Clarkson also admitted a last-minute oversight that added to the opening-day pressure. The show captured the moment when it became clear that pricing the menu had not yet been finalized just 40 minutes before opening. A concerned Charlie Ireland asked, “What about the prices? What are we charging?” to which Jeremy, blindsided, replied incredulously, “Oh, have we not done that yet?” Charlie confirmed no prices were set, prompting Jeremy’s exasperated reaction: “Oh for f*** sake.”

Clarkson’s Farm season 4 is currently streaming on Prime Video.
