Jeremy Clarkson, the former Top Gear host and star of Clarkson’s Farm, has shared a startling account of his health scare last October, admitting he was only “hours away” from a potentially fatal heart attack. Following severe symptoms, Clarkson was rushed to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where doctors discovered his heart vessels were severely blocked, necessitating emergency surgery and the placement of two stents.
Clarkson described waking up with a clammy feeling, chest tightness, and pins and needles in his left arm – classic signs that prompted urgent medical attention. Reflecting on the experience in an interview with The Telegraph, he said, “It wasn’t a heart attack, but I was hours away from one. All of the vessels feeding the heart with blood looked like something dangling from a cave in the Peak District. They were just ruined. One of them was 90 per cent blocked.”
He acknowledged that years of unhealthy lifestyle choices combined with recent stress and sleepless nights contributed to the crisis. Since the incident, Clarkson has adopted drastic lifestyle changes upon medical advice, including quitting processed foods and exercising regularly. Notably, he has taken up pickleball, a fast-growing racket sport played on a smaller court than tennis, to stay active.

Clarkson has also experimented with a ‘mono diet,’ focusing on a limited range of foods for periods to clean up his eating habits. Despite the stringent measures, he admits to still enjoying an occasional glass of rosé wine.
Meanwhile, Clarkson’s Farm continues to evolve, with new farmhand Harriet Cowan brought in after Kaleb Cooper, a prominent figure from earlier seasons, left the show. Kaleb recently candidly rated Clarkson’s farming skills as “slowly improving,” highlighting his strengths with pigs but struggles with machinery.
The highly anticipated fourth series of Clarkson’s Farm premiered on Amazon Prime Video on May 23, offering fans more insights into Clarkson’s rural adventures and personal journey.
