Jeremy Clarkson Opens Up About His Fears as Filming Pauses

Jeremy Clarkson has confessed he feels “genuinely frightened” about stepping away from filming for several months following the overwhelming success of his Amazon Prime Video series, Clarkson’s Farm.

The 65-year-old broadcaster, well-known from Top Gear and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, captured a new audience when his agricultural show premiered in 2021. Alongside Kaleb Cooper, Clarkson has chronicled the ups and downs of running Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire, shedding light on the challenges faced by farmers while celebrating their hard work.

Since launching a farm shop and public house last year, Clarkson has been open about various difficulties, including personal health scares and the tragic impact of a bovine tuberculosis outbreak at the farm.

With a fifth series due to air next spring, Clarkson and his team are preparing to take a much-needed temporary break. He previously explained the necessity of this pause: “Whatever happens, we’ll definitely take a short break as the crews are all worn out. We’ve been filming two or three days a week, every week, for five years. Everyone could use a rest.”

Despite this, Clarkson has admitted the prospect of halting production makes him anxious as he gears up for the launch of ITV’s new quiz show, Millionaire Hot Seat. Inspired by an Australian format, the programme features six contestants competing for prizes by correctly answering questions while rotating through a “hot seat.”

When asked about stepping away from Clarkson’s Farm, he shared: “You would rot if you didn’t. I’m genuinely frightened because until March, I won’t be filming a TV show for the first time in forty years. That will be three months of ‘sh*t’.”

Clarkson also provided an update on his health after a critical incident in October 2024, when an emergency procedure saved his life. He revealed he’s lost three stone since January, improving his overall wellbeing significantly. “I still really look forward to going out to eat, but I’m careful not to snack on biscuits or anything like that, as that fills you up. I’m looking forward to going out tonight and having a curry,” he said.

He added, “Losing the weight means I walk further, have more energy, and now that I have my stents in, I feel energised.”

Millionaire Hot Seat is set to premiere on ITV in January 2026.
